Who are the Friends?
The King’s Bruton Friends committee consists of a President, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Secretary, the Headmaster and elected parents/OB members who meet once a term. An AGM is held annually in November. Membership of the Association is open to all Old Brutonians, past and present members of the teaching staff, parents of boys or girls now or previously at the school and anyone else interested in the school’s present and future wellbeing.

What does it do?
The Friends is a social body that will undertake to provide opportunities for all members to meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere at a number of social events. All members, parents and staff are welcome to attend as many events as they wish in which we hope to always provide a warm and enjoyable reception. The Friends is an umbrella structure under which all members of the King’s community come t ogether.
We had a successful event last year with the Fete Champetre and the Headmaster is very keen for us to build on this success. Whilst the main focus of the Friends will be on social networking and membership, we aim to bring a small element of fundraising into the events that we organise too. Any small profit we make from the events and membership income will be allocated to advance the education of the pupils in the school by providing equipment and facilities not provided by any other source.
All major fundraising will be undertaken by the Foundation.
Allocation of Grants
During the last year Friends’ membership and event income has funded the following:
- New sofas for the boarding houses
- Choir robes
- Netball posts and cricket covers
- Honours board updates
- Sewing machines
- TV and electrical equipment for all houses and much more!
