Prep School Pupils Enjoy Afternoon Of Science

Share
Science Prep School Days

Thursday 9th February saw just under fifty pupils from Year Six at Hazlegrove came to King’s to enjoy an afternoon of science writes Angela Ashworth, Head of Physics.

Within Biology, the pupils investigated their senses and how they are used to help interpret, understand and react to the environment they are in. The pupils then carried out tests looking at touch, taste and sound in order to see which pupil had the best senses and to see how some senses can make you doubt the information being received from other senses. The Chemistry Department provided pupils with the opportunity to make their own slime as well as producing their own edible sherbet, which proved very popular. Within Physics, pupils were tasked with building a free-standing tower from drinking straws, paper and string. To succeed in building a tall, stable tower, they needed to think carefully about forces and where they act on a structure. The whole afternoon was a lot of fun for everyone involved; we look forward to the next Prep School Science Afternoon.
