The King's Bruton Grounds Team have been battling the elements...

The Easter Term was dominated by poor weather, and to date, we are just shy of 500mm of rain. On average, December is the wettest month in Bruton with 103mm of precipitation, but our wettest month so far is March with 200mm. With the average amount of precipitation being 884mm for the whole year, we will, no doubt beat the annual average this year.

When the weather has been on our side, we have been carrying out cricket preparation, pre-season rolling, over-seeding and fertilizing the outfields. The cricket covers have been on constantly over the Easter holidays, they did blow off a few times as well. Other jobs have included setting up the Astro with 9 tennis courts, repairing damaged drainage and getting all our machinery ready for the summer. The gardens team have been busy keeping the main school neat and tidy.

Everyone in the Grounds Team has worked so hard in some very testing weather conditions, and I am grateful for having a reliable and hardworking team. We hope the weather will dry up now that the cricket season is here.
