The Friends of King's is the school's parent organisation which exists to provide a helpful parent network for new parents along with raising money through various events to help support school projects.

Friends Committee:

The Friends Committee is currently made up of twelve members:

Emma Cobb – President (parent for seven years. Mother to Archie Upper Sixth, Florence Fourth Form.  Working as Events Manager at King’s)
Amanda Hope Kibble – Vice President (parent for four years. Mother to Joshua Upper Sixth.  Volunteer at King’s)
Mike Sykes – Treasurer (parent for one year. Father to Jacob in Fourth Form)
Sarah Main – Hon. Secretary (parent for seven years. Mother to Cameron who left this year)
Rosie Whitaker – Committee member (parent for four years. Mother to James in Upper Sixth)
Judy Gallannaugh – Hon. Committee member (longstanding and loyal volunteer to King’s and wife of Roger who was a Governor and is an OB)
Lucinda Colebatch – Committee member (parent for four years. Mother to Tom in Lower Sixth)
Rose Vigers – Staff committee member (teacher at King’s for many years)
Nick Bunday – Staff committee member (Housemaster of Blackford and History teacher)
Lindsey Cadbury – Committee member (parent for eight years. Mother to Rory in Upper Sixth)
Ian Wilmshurst – Headmaster (parent for one year. Father to Anna in Fourth Form)
Peter Philips – Governor/OB member (longstanding and loyal supporter of Friends)

Regular Friends Events:

Throughout the year the Friends hosts numerous events for parents, the school and the wider community. Below you will find a brief summary of these events along with planned dates for future events. For all enquiries about Friends events please email the President Emma Cobb.

Annual Pimms Party:
An annual event held at the Headmaster’s house for Friends members. By invitation only.
Next event date: TBC.

Friends’ Coffee Morning:
A one a term event held for all parents At the Chapel in Bruton. This has proved to be a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents in their year group and to feel part of the King’s community.
Next event date: 8:30am on 8th January 2016 - At the Chapel in Bruton.

New Mother’s Lunch Club:
An annual event held at a local pub or restaurant for new mothers.
Next event date: 12.30pm on 6th November 2015 - King’s Arms, Charlton Horethorne.

Christmas Fayre:
One of the highlights of the Friends year held in late November or early December. The aim of the event is to raise lots of money for a chosen charity. A myriad of stalls setup in the Fitzjames Hall with members of the school community and public coming to shop. Mince pies, mulled wine, carol singers and lots of festive cheer.

Fete Champetre:
Another big event in our year. The school’s big band perform whilst parents enjoy drinks, canapes and picnics in the glorious evening sunshine.

A great opportunity to form a small team of parents and pupils and compete against one another.
