Joining the Sixth Form at King’s Bruton, pupils are entering an exciting time of change and transition.
It is the culmination of their school careers and their launch pad into the world of universities and careers. This is a time of opportunity, a chance to explore new ventures, new learning, new responsibilities, new futures, and so to discover and realise their individual potential.
At King’s we seek make this time as fruitful as possible, whilst fostering a greater sense of independence in pupils, be that in their academic studies, or in the choices they make beyond the classroom.
Our aim is to see pupils prepared for and ready to step into the demands of the world ahead of them.
Individuality is encouraged and we offer a vast array of potential courses to suit a wide range of abilities, allowing pupils to focus their learning in areas which interest them, forming programmes which are tailored to suit the individual. Whilst we pursue excellence in all our teaching, we believe that education is about more than high academic results and are pleased to provide a broad and stimulating education. Expert teaching is combined with a stimulating variety of extra-curricular activities, and pupils are encouraged to try new things and push their experiences, under the personalised guidance of tutors and Housemasters/Housemistresses. Pupils are challenged to look beyond their examined subjects, enjoying academic enrichment elsewhere, whilst enjoying broad experiences, and a strong sense of being part of a community.
The Sixth Form at King’s is a place where ambition and aspiration is encouraged both in the now and for the future, and pupils are guided in their paths ahead. Recognising that no one route is right for every pupil, we offer an established and experienced programme of careers advice and university preparation tailored to getting the best out of every individual. Dedicated time is given to guide pupils in UCAS applications, in their CV writing and their career explorations, helping them find their next step beyond the Sixth Form. Where appropriate, pupils are prepared for elite university applications and at King’s we have proven success in gaining places at Oxford and Cambridge.
The Sixth Form at King’s offers a chance for greater freedom, though with greater freedom also comes greater responsibility. Above all, we want to see individuals flourish in a happy community environment, becoming fine young adults for the future.
