King’s School Bruton,
Spent over 30 years as a city solicitor in London and New York and latterly in Milan. Has been on the governing bodies of Sherborne School (Boys), Port Regis and Finton House (London). Currently has a portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles.
Cambridge B.Ed. graduate and career as a civil servant. Worked at No 10 and in the House of Commons. Before taking early retirement from the MOD, had responsibility for international defence relations and management of Defence Advisors and Attachés. Currently a magistrate in Taunton.
A career in teaching began at King’s School Bruton. This then led to the Headship of Lambrook School, followed by Summer Fields School. He now spends part of his retirement as Head of Development at Knightsbridge School.
An Oxford geography graduate. He is a Chartered Accountant who has spent much of his working life in financial services and insurance. Married and lives nearby in Cucklington.
Qualified Building Surveyor who amassed experience in restoration, repair and insurance assessment at many levels including high value property and historic buildings. Currently involved in consultancy with insurance firms and loss adjustors. Lives near Salisbury
Served in the British Army for 5 years and then spent over twenty five years in corporate finance in the City. Most of this period was spent advising technology companies on mergers and acquisitions and fund raising. Presently a partner in a London based advisory boutique. Living near Sherborne.
Engineer and international business executive. Brought up in Somerset and has returned to his home village after 10 years in Hong Kong. He is a Visitor of Sexey’s Hospital, Bruton.
After an early career in luxury tour operating and property, moved to the technology sector, spending fourteen years assisting growth of the leading PropTech software solution with responsibility for service and operations. Since 2014, has worked independently advising and enabling organisational efficiency in SME businesses. Living near Sherborne and a current Hazlegrove parent.
Spent seven years working in the City as part of McGuinness Finch / Osborne Clarke before moving to East Coker and becoming a partner at Dyne Drewett / Mogers Drewett Sherborne at which, from 2014, he has headed up the Commercial Property team.
Mr Jones has been involved in education throughout his working life with senior posts as Second Master here at King’s Bruton, Headmaster at RGS Worcester and Principal of Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar in Malaysia. Now retired he remains heavily involved in education and local charitable work.
A partner based at the Bristol offices of a national law firm. He advises a range of clients within the leisure sector and specialises in property related work. His home is not far from either school.
Professor of Financial Economics at Imperial College, London. Was a member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England between May 2009 and September 2015. As an economist he has focused on the interaction between financial markets and the wider economy. He was Chief UK Economist at Morgan Stanley from October 2004 to May 2009. In 2004 he led a government review of the UK mortgage market. He recently completed a review for the UK Treasury on reference prices of UK government bonds. He is an advisor to the IMF. He is a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research and at the CESIFO research institute in Munich. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Fiscal Studies. He was awarded a CBE in January 2016.
As a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, Giles Pretor-Pinney has spent 29 years in the City as a banker and investment advisor. Ex-parent of both Hazlegrove and King's Bruton, living nearby in Somerton.
After studying history at Oxford University and with an MBA from Henley, Helena has spent the majority of her career leading high-end beauty brands within LVMH, Shiseido, L’Oreal and Unilever, building and re-designing international organisational structures and teams, while defining and communicating luxury brand equity, supported by operational excellence. Recent highlights include launching Rihanna into the world of beauty; lowlights include too much time in the air. She is currently International President at Huda Beauty. Helena lives in London with her two teenagers, Zachary and Mollie, is a Governor of KSB and Hazlegrove and is co-founder of HennaBecca Luxury Accessories. Her passions include scuba diving, adventure travel and delicious food.
Serving ISI inspector with over 39 years of teaching experience: Head of Girls PE and PSHE at Clayesmore Preparatory School, followed by Housemistress of Farrell House at Wentworth College in Bournemouth before being appointed as Head of Middle School at St Mary’s Shaftesbury. During twenty-eight years at St Mary’s she was promoted from Head of Middle School, to Senior Mistress, to Assistant Deputy Head to her last position as Deputy Head (Pastoral & Academic), before retiring in August 2017.
Career spent in prep and senior schools. IAPS head for 23 years including Headmaster of Junior King’s School Canterbury until 2017. Formerly Headmaster of Liverpool College Prep and teacher at St Hughes School, Woodhall Spa. ISI inspector, good boarding and governor experience. Fund raising and development interests.
