The GCSE programme at King’s allows pupils to experience a stimulating education offering breadth and depth.
At the core is a dynamic programme of Mathematics, Science, English and Modern Languages. Beyond this pupils have the opportunity to explore and pursue their own interests within the Humanities, the Arts, Technology, and Physical Education.
Pupils joining King’s in the 3rd Form will study a broad curriculum that allows them to experience and enjoy a wide range of subjects, ensuring a firm grounding in the core subjects before they make their GCSE subject choices. IGCSE qualifications have replaced GCSE qualifications in some subject areas and, while equivalent to the GCSE, we believe that in some subject areas, the IGCSE courses are more suited to our pupils and help prepare them more thoroughly for A-Levels.
The GCSE curriculum encourages and supports pupils in the development of personal enquiry and independent study. At King’s, the small class sizes and the expertise of the teachers allow pupils to embrace the subject and fulfil their academic potential. We are proud of our excellent GCSE results and believe that exam success, while important, should form part of the pupils’ wider intellectual development.
