Blackford House is the House at the heart of King’s, both physically and metaphorically speaking.
We are centrally located within the school campus and are ‘home’ to over 50 boys, both boarders and day boys. We passionately believe everyone is someone and that every boy is known for whom he is, not just for what he can bring to the House.
In Blackford we have a family atmosphere but encourage a sense of purpose, especially during work times and prep. We hope every boy will represent the House in sport, music, drama or debating, to name but a few of the opportunities on offer. Not everyone has to be brilliant at something, or indeed brilliant at anything – there is no room for prima donnas here but there is room for boys who strive to get the most out of what is on offer and who, we hope, will become well-rounded, confident young men by the time they leave us, ready and prepared to take on the next stage in their lives, whatever it may be. We want to create confidence without arrogance. Oscar Wilde once said, “The best way to make children good is to make them happy”. Here in Blackford House, that is our main aim. We would be delighted to give you a tour of our House. Please take a look at our Twitter feed below to see more of Blackford House!
