Chemistry Academic Events

Last Monday evening the 6th Form Chemists attended a third symposium at Sherborne Girls School.

Talks were given by pupils from all six of the invited schools on using electrolytes to rehydrate our bodies. Alongside this we discussed aerogels, poisons, metallic hydrogen and superacids. Samantha (U6th Form, Arion) gave a very enlightening lecture on designing a simple test for diagnosing osteoarthritis in horses using chemiluminescence and why this would be advantageous. These events continue to be a great success, providing lots of opportunity for our pupils to be academically stretched and challenged.
