4th Form Artists Inspired In St Ives

Art Academic Events

The 4th Form art pupils made their yearly pilgrimage to St Ives to take in the beautiful natural scenery, the wonderful galleries and to be enthralled by numerous art workshops.

On the first day we attended a sculpture workshop at the Barbara Hepworth Museum which gave the pupils a fascinating insight to the artist and her work. On the second day, Monday, we did some Raku firing up at the internationally acclaimed Leach Pottery followed by a tour of Tate St Ives and a print workshop in the afternoon. In the evening we watched a performance of Pride and Prejudice at the majestic Minack Theatre. Tuesday saw us visit the Penlee Gallery and view an incredible exhibition by Stanhope Forbes, one of the leading Newlyn artists. To cap off a great trip we walked out to St Michael’s Mount to walk round the house and gardens completing some drawings and recording. All in all it was a fantastic trip and the weather was incredible. An album from the trip can be viewed below.
