Business Studies and Economics Educational Trips

The L6th Form Business Studies & Economics pupils recently enjoyed a memorable day at the Bank of England and Chelsea Football Club, writes John Slingo, Head of Business Studies & Economics.

At the Bank of England the pupils were given a presentation on the role of the central bank and especially how the inflation target of 2% is paramount in their list of targets for the economy. The pupils then had time to spend in the interactive education centre and they especially enjoyed the ‘gold bar challenge’ whereby they had to lift with one hand (no easy task!) a gold bar worth £400,000!

Chelsea FC was no less enlightening; the pupils had a tour of the stadium, managerial dug outs, press room and changing rooms of one of the most iconic stadiums in the world. Whilst having the tour we heard about the plans for the new home of Chelsea, the revenue streams for the club (£329m) and the ever-increasing globalisation of football. All in all a great day out and one that the pupils can relate to in their future studies. An album of photos from the trip can be seen below.
