Tennis

Home vs St Mary's Shaftsbury

On what turned out to be a wonderfully sunny afternoon on Tyndall’s the Senior Girls' 1st & 2nd VI’s played against St Mary’s Shaftesbury. Both the 1st & 2nd teams took full advantage of perfect conditions and dominated on serve, from the baseline and at the net, both winning 8-1 respectively. A special mention to Astrid & Poppy, who playing together for the first time, played extremely well complementing each other on court. Also, Sophie & Kiara reminded everyone why they are the 1st pair of the 1st VI, blowing the opposition away with their powerful serving and ground strokes.

Away vs St Mary's Shaftsbury

The Junior Tennis teams travelled to St Mary’s Shaftesbury on Saturday afternoon. Despite driving through dark clouds on the way over, we were pleasantly surprised when the sun came out within a few minutes of play beginning!

Our girls played very well indeed with many evenly matched, close games. As ever, the King's girls maintained a superb level of sportsmanship, being gracious in victory and defeat. Mrs Ashworth was particularly proud to have so many of the spectators, both St Mary’s staff and parents, commenting on how lovely our girls were and how well they were playing.

Final scores did not always reflect how close the matches were! Special mention must go to Charlotte D and Margaux B for winning all 3 of their sets.

Final scores were as following:

Junior A’s lost 2 - 7
Junior B’s won 5 - 4
Junior C’s lost 2 - 7

Cricket

1st XI

The 1st XI proved again what a strong bowling outfit they are as they bowled very well to limit the Rifles to 118. Strong performances came from Peter J 3 wickets for 13 and Leo H 3 wickets for 26. Ben F bowled very well on debut.

We made hard work of it to chase 118, but eventually got there in the penultimate over. Toby R 38 and Ross T 32.

2nd XI

The 2nd XI batted first and made 115. The Old Brutonians managed to chase the runs with 2 overs to spare.
