An outstanding Spring Concert...

The Orchestra opened the evening with a performance of Appalachian Morning followed by Violin Concerto in G Major Hob. VIIa:4 1st Movement - Allegro Moderato with the violin solo played by Joseph. The Orchestra made an impressive sound with good attention to blend. The Military Band were excellent, performing Eighties Flashback and Two Imps complete with a fantastic xylophone duet played by Samuel and Molly. The Military Band played with great poise and at the high standard we have come to expect from this impressive ensemble. The Girls’ Chamber Choir performed Someone You Love, it is fantastic to see their confidence continue to grow since their debut performance in the Winter Concert. The School Choir were outstanding in their performances of Bohemian Rhapsody and Sure On This Shining Night. The String Quartet played a movement from Grieg’s Holberg Suite: Gavotte. This was then followed by the Trumpet Consort playing an expertly blended Prelude and Fugue. The Chapel Choir performed Lord, Let Me Know Mine End and Magnificat as set to music by Tertius Noble in the key of B minor. The Chapel Choir paid particular attention to the shaping of phrases and blend. The Saxophone Ensemble performed a fun rendition of Seguidilla. The Chamber Choir were on top form performing Duruflé’s beautiful Ubi Caritas and Parry’s part song My Soul, There Is A Country. The Chamber Choir produced a lovely blended sound. The Big Band closed the concert with superb and exciting performance of Sing, Sing, Sing that included an extended and exciting drum solo from Charles; a fitting end to a superb evening of music.

My congratulations to all involved and my personal thanks to the wonderful team of music staff at King’s.
