King’s Bruton is celebrating a record year of A Level and BTEC success, with 70% of A Level grades awarded at A*-B, 60% of BTEC grades at Distinction or Distinction* and 47% of all qualifications graded at A*/A or equivalent. In addition, 94% of EPQs (Extended Project Qualification) were graded A*/A. These results mark an exceptional year of academic achievement for the school, with outstanding performances across the year group, including 11 pupils who achieved straight A* and A grades.

Headmaster Matt Radley says: “These results rank among the very best achieved by an Upper Sixth cohort at King’s, and there have been some remarkable individual performances alongside the wider collective success. We are all incredibly proud of these pupils for what they have achieved, which comes as a result of consistent hard work, determination and a strong sense of aspiration that has underpinned their time in the Sixth Form.

“While education is about far more than examination results alone, these achievements are an important milestone and will help open doors to exciting opportunities ahead. We are delighted that so many of our pupils will now be able to progress to the next stage of their education and pursue the pathways of their choice. I would also like to pay tribute to my colleagues, whose exceptional support, encouragement and guidance have played such an important role in these outcomes. They will, I know, share my immense pride in what this year group has accomplished.”

They will now progress to an exciting range of destinations and courses at leading UK and international universities such as Imperial College London, Edinburgh and Erasmus, alongside alternative ambitious pathways, such as degree apprenticeships. I am extremely proud of each and every one of them and know they leave King’s as impressive young people ready to make the most of the opportunities ahead.”

These results come at an exciting time for King’s Bruton which has been at the heart of Bruton since 1519. Combining more than 500 years of history with a forward-looking education, the school is known for its strong sense of community and belonging, and for encouraging aspiration and excellence across academic life, sport and the creative arts.

That breadth of achievement has also been recognised nationally, with King’s Bruton recently commended for Sporting Achievement at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards. The school’s location in Bruton, one of the South West’s most vibrant centres for contemporary art and culture, also provides opportunities to build strong connections with the wider creative community.
