U6th Pupil Griff Shortlisted for Global Essay Prize
Congratulations to U6th pupil Griff, who has been shortlisted in the Politics Category of the John Locke Institute 2026 Global Essay Prize for his essay entitled ‘Is democracy in crisis?’. Reflecting on the experience, Griff said: “This essay was a great opportunity for me to explore and deepen my understanding of the topic outside of my Politics class and it was also a great way to reflect on the current political climate of our world.”
Head of A Level Politics, George Beverly, praised Griff’s achievement: “Griff’s essay eruditely demonstrated the ways that democracy can be considered ‘in crisis’, drawing on a range of academic scholarship to construct an articulate and convincing argument. His insights on the condition of Western legislatures and executives, alongside his analysis of public attitudes to democracy, led him to form an incredibly robust conclusion.”
We wish Griff every success as he heads to the Awards Ceremony.
