In a week where an 11 year old became the youngest women grandmaster in history, it was wonderful to see the popularity of chess among the women and girls' of King's Bruton as the annual chess and chocolate event took place, this year in Wellesley House. Pupils from all three girls boarding houses, and members of staff enjoyed games of chess, with those completely new to the game and regular players taking part. It was great practice for players ahead of the Inter House chess competition, taking place on 9^th November. Thank you to Wellesley House for hosting, and Mr Owens, our Chess Master for organising.
