An excellent devised performance from the L6^th Form BTEC Performing Arts pupils...

In preparation for Unit 2, the L6^th Form BTEC Performing Arts class were tasked with creating a short devised performance using the skills and techniques of 3 key practitioners covered during the first half the Christmas Term.

They were given an article entitled The Pathology of Imprisonment by Dr Zimbardo, which focuses on the outcomes of the now infamous Stanford Prison Experiment. They were given 4 weeks to research, write, and devise a piece of theatre based upon this case and the methodologies of DV8, Frantic Assembly and Steven Berkoff.

I was hugely impressed with their commitment to the task, both in rehearsal and performance. Their understanding of the practitioners’ work and how to apply this effectively in performance was excellent. The characterisation was well researched, particularly that of Dr Zimbardo. Mrs Fear commented upon how the calm and thoughtful nature of the man was well researched and communicated.

Huge thanks to Mrs Fear for bringing her U6^th Form Psychology class to the performance. It is so valuable to have live audience members in the theatre and thanks for some extremely valuable feedback.
