King's Bruton

An absolutely brilliant Snow Ball (in bubbles)

Celebration House Activities and Competitions

On Saturday 4th December, the 3rd, 4th and 5th Forms enjoyed the annual Snow Ball at various locations throughout the School campus.

For obvious reasons, this event did not take place last year, and so there was great excitement at the thought that this year it could actually go ahead. Organised by Arion and Blackford Houses, the aim was to create the best event possible in line with Covid guidelines. This meant that every pupil and helper undertook a Lateral Flow Test before the beginning of the Ball and, as opposed to being one large event, it effectively became three mini events, with a central, al fresco feeding station. This meant that three venues had to be decorated and over seen whilst three discos had to be arranged.

The senior girls of Arion and boys of Blackford were incredibly helpful in decorating and setting up the three locations. The Arion and Blackford House Prefects carried out many of the duties involved in the evening, and all dressed for the occasion and looked incredibly smart. The L6th Form BTEC Hospitality pupils produced Mocktails for the 5th Form and were instrumental in getting the dancing going in the 3rd Form venue. Two of the discos were organised and run by two senior pupils (Amelia and Mima) who have been undergoing DJ training at school, and they certainly gauged the mood brilliantly to ensure that the dancefloors were full in all the locations, all night long.

The 3rd, 4th and 5th Form pupils all made a huge effort to dress for the occasion and as a consequence the ‘photobooth’ was much in demand as they all wanted a souvenir photo of themselves with their friends. It was clear that they all relished the opportunity to have a party with their friends and this was hardly surprising given the restrictions that they have had to live under for the past nearly two years. Whilst they had a great time, they were also impeccably behaved and respectful of the opportunity that they had been given. It was an evening of King’s being at its best with the sense of community being palpable.
