The U6th Form BTEC Hospitality pupils were thrilled to be asked to serve Cocktails and Canapés at the school play “The Crucible.”

Part of their coursework is learning about alcoholic beverages, how they are made, stored, served and paired with food. The pupils practiced making cocktails prior to the event, focusing on the colour, taste and how they could fit into the theme of the play. They creatively named them:

  • Blood Bath - a beetroot based concoction
  • Witches Brew - a play on an espresso martini
  • Kiss of Death - a gin based zingy and sour cocktail

The cocktails were certainly in keeping with the darkness of the play. It was the first event the U6th Form had hosted, as many events have previously been cancelled due to COVID. They were excited to serve staff, U6th Form pupils and parents of the cast.

The canapés were selected based on pairing flavours with the cocktails and were meticulously prepared during the day. The BTEC Hospitality pupils demonstrated professionalism and skill throughout to make service a success.
