Safer Internet Day...

Safer Internet Day is held every February in over 170 different countries. This year it was on Tuesday 6th February. The goal of Safer Internet Day is to call on people across the world to work together to make the internet a safer and better place for all, but especially for young people. In the UK, the UK Safer Internet Centre runs a campaign which aims to start a national conversation about using technology safely and positively.

The School marked the day with an Assembly about eSafety, which explored topics like online abuse, AI Bias and AI Deepfake Technology and the pupils all looked at some aspects of eSafety in their tutor time, they chose from a list of three topics:

  1. Has technology improved my life?
  2. How is AI used for my benefit?
  3. Is social media positive in my life?

There is also going to be a competition for the mixed 3rd and 4th form tutor groups, to produce a poster or a video/TikTok or meme promoting Safer Internet day.
