Wellesley win the Inter-House Girls' Football...

King’s first full size 11-A-Side Girls' Inter-House Football Tournament was a roaring success. The matches were played in great spirit, competitive but fair, and everyone involved had a great time. The first match between Wellesley vs Arion was tightly contested in the first half, but two goals from Fritzi put Wellesley ahead at half-time. As they controlled the midfield, through Phoebe and Ruby, Arion got better and better as the game went on, but in the second-half, a close finish by Alex sealed a 3-0 victory for Wellesley. The second match between Arion vs Priory was a closer affair and there was more structure to the play, with Hannah, Cara and Liv linking up well for Arion. Priory took the lead through Georgia and were the more attacking side overall with particularly good work from Georgia, Georgina, Marcia and Jess. They confirmed a 2 - 0 victory with a well struck shot from Eliza that was deflected past India in the Arion goal. The final match was the decider for the Tournament. Wellesley vs Priory, an early penalty for Priory was dispatched by Eliza to make it 1-0, but a super strike from Phoebe from outside the box levelled the match and it was end to end from then on. Wellesley controlled the centre of midfield and were defensively superb, while Priory worked the ball well down the flanks with Georgina and Georgia particularly. It was engrossing match, and it ended 1-1 which meant that both teams finished on the same points, but Wellesley won the Tournament by virtue of scoring 1 goal more than Priory.
