An incredible opportunity for Jack in the ISFA U18 match against Loughborough University...

In the Easter holidays, I travelled up to Loughborough University to watch my brother, Charlie, play for the ISFA (Independent Schools Football Association) U18 National team. He is their goalkeeper, and the team had their final match of the season against Loughborough University’s U21 team.

Due to last minute injuries, illness and travel disruption ISFA were short of a player. I was asked if I might consider playing and I said yes despite having had a late night watching Netflix! Soon I was in the changing room being introduced to the rest of the team whilst someone hastily found some boots and shin pads as I didn’t have any of my own kit with me.

The other players were a great bunch of lads and made me feel very welcome. I played on the right wing and tried to get as involved as possible as soon as I got on the pitch. It was a very closely contested game which  ISFA won 4-2. I felt I played well, using some good skills and passes and also got an assist for the 3rd goal. I came close to scoring, but the shot was blocked. The ISFA coaches were impressed with my performance and very grateful that I played. This was an incredible opportunity for me, and I feel very lucky to have had the experience of playing at a national level.

Jack - U6th Form - New House

Jack was overall player of the season at King's this season, and coaches player of the season last year. He has a deep love of football and is not just technically good but understands the game, and has excellent decision making on the pitch. Like many players, he can do all the tricks but he knows when to do this and when not to, he is an excellent team player and always effective in what he does. Over the course of the two years he has been playing for the King’s 1st XI, he has played in every position on the pitch and always produced top performances wherever he has been asked to play. I'm really impressed with him stepping up to the national squad and not surprised that he did it with such aplomb!

A proud moment for Jack's family and what an opportunity for him to shine alongside his twin brother, Charlie on the big stage. We’ve heard many stories of the boys playing together in their back yard, and what a way to round off the season with Jack’s assist and resounding 4-2 result against Loughborough Uni. We are sure this will live long in the memory and provide a great source of inspiration for the next generation of King’s footballers.
