Just before half term, a number of parents attended a deeply engaging and informative Pastoral Panel which explored key topics relating to wellbeing, personal development and pastoral care within our community.
The panel featured the Headmaster, the Deputy Head Pastoral, a DDSL, a Housemistress and our two Heads of School who shared valuable insights on how we support pupils’ emotional and social growth, as well as strategies for fostering resilience, empathy, and a positive school culture. Topics included mental health awareness, mobile phones, pornography, relationships and sex education, positive behaviour support, building confidence and strengthening home–school communication.
Parents in attendance praised the session for its openness and relevance. Many commented on how reassuring it was to hear about King’s proactive approach to pupil wellbeing, and how they could continue supporting these efforts at home. Parents had the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions and share their own perspectives. The discussion highlighted the shared commitment between home and school to nurture every child’s personal and emotional development.
We are grateful to all who attended and contributed. Our next parental event is on Monday 10th November at 6pm in the Hauser and Wirth Recital Hall in The Queen Elizabeth Music School. The topic will be Gambling and Gaming and there will be a talk from Adele Bourne, the Gambling Education and Prevention Lead in the South West followed by a Q & A session.
