The Prefects tell us their highlights of the Christmas Term...

  • It has been so great to be back in House, from the many laughs with good friends in the common room, to having one, to lots, of cookies at 4:30pm.
  • My highlight for this term has been being able to play team sports with my friends after such a long break, especially cricket, having missed the summer term. I think the whole school community has been grateful of the work done to ensure that the School has remained open during what has been a difficult term.
  • A highlight for me would most definitely be the Sixth Form Dinner. It was a lovely night, and it was incredibly refreshing to see everybody smiling and having a good time whilst enjoying our lovely meal.
  • It was really good to be able to get some cricket in at the start of the term. Being given the opportunity to play matches was great and it was very nice to get back to playing sport as part of a team.
  • My personal highlight has been achieving three fantastic university offers to study mathematics. It feels like a true accomplishment and makes me excited for life beyond Kings. However, other highlights for me have included giving an interesting New House Rhino Society talk on ‘How to Escape East Berlin’. And also, re-establishing the Astronomy Club and being able to fix the observatory telescope, which cumulated in an evening in which we viewed Jupiter and three of its moons.
  • I’ve loved being back in the School community again, it’s such a welcoming and happy atmosphere. The best part, I believe, is the walking to and from House chatting with friends, and the incessant laughter that seems to fill the classrooms.
  • My highlights from the term were the U6th Form carols under the Christmas tree, the Sixth Form Dinner and being able to use the Sixth Form Club. Overall, due to the current situation, we have been very lucky in being able to as much as we have!
  • A highlight for me this term was being able to be back at school with friends after so long on online school. It was nice to feel closer to normality by being able to mix with other people and be in the classroom again.

The School Prefects have encapsulated the essence of King’s in their statements on their term of highlights. School is about having a balance of inspiring and stimulating classes, and moments to relax and have fun with friends. Despite our current constraints, they have managed to maintain that balance.
