Business Studies and Design & Technology pupils enjoyed a fascinating insight into how the MINI is produced when they visited the MINI Plant in Oxford on Wednesday. Building around 1,000 MINIs per day, the production and assembly facility is one of the most modern and technologically-advanced car plants in the world. 

The pupils were given a guided tour of the plant where they were able to see modern production techniques, such as the use of AGVs and automated 3^rd Generation robots, in action. The pupils were also able to see how processes like Kanban and Just In Time manufacturing works in a real-life industrial setting which helps to complement their growing subject knowledge. In addition to experiencing this dynamic production facility, the pupils were also able to enjoy some time in the MINI Museum where the history of this iconic brand is displayed through a multimedia exhibition, including many examples of MINI cars from the original model, designed by Alec Issigonis, to the current state of the art Electric MINI.
