The Rosslyn Park National School 7s is always a highlight of the school year. RP7s is the largest rugby event in the world with over 15,000 pupils attending across the week, making it a week to remember for pupils and staff involved and this year did not disappoint!
King’s had two teams entered at U18 and U16, with both teams doing incredibly well in their respective groups. The U16s played Mill Hill, Loughborough Grammar and Llangatwg School in three well fought matches, resulting in a win against Llangatwg School to finish the day and wrap up a fantastic day of rugby for the 16s.
The U18s performed tremendously well, exceeding all expectations by topping their group on the first day against Neath Port Talbot College, Pangbourne College and The Royal Hospital School to then play St Johns Leatherhead in a knockout game to make day two, an achievement never before reached by King’s Bruton. King’s played a spectacular brand of rugby where heart and work rate prevailed allowing King’s to take a crucial win and secure a historic school spot in day two, making it to the last 32 out of 250 teams in the U18 Vase. Carrying three injuries, day two became more of a challenge where we played Millfield, Samuel Whitbread Academy and St Edwards Oxford in three tough but competitive fixtures. The spirit and effort displayed throughout the two days was nothing short of inspiring.
Well done to all King’s pupils who were involved in rugby 7s this year, it was a brilliant term of rugby and I look forward to seeing how next season unfolds.
