A Jubilant Confirmation Service!

Chaplaincy

It was a delight to welcome the Rt. Revd Bishop Rob Martin, who graciously joined us for our annual Service of Baptism & Confirmation in St Mary’s - the Chapel at King’s Bruton.

This year, ten pupils chose to be confirmed, with four also receiving baptism during the service (two by full immersion, and two at the font). During the service, it was especially powerful to hear Jesse and Harry share in an interview why faith is so important to them and why they had chosen to be baptised and confirmed. All the candidates displayed a sincere desire to follow Christ - to trust in him, and as the prophet Micah says, “to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

The hymns lifted the roof with their beauty, the liturgy reminded us of the richness of our faith, and Bishop Rob’s sermon spoke powerfully to the heart of the congregation. Special thanks are due to the Chapel Choir, whose voices added reverence and splendour, during their descants, anthems and especially during Holy Communion.

As Chaplain, I count this annual confirmation service among the most treasured highlights of the year. Witnessing pupils make such decisions fills me with gratitude and hope. I look forward to accompanying them as they continue to grow through the chaplaincy events and opportunities offered week by week here at King’s. It really is the greatest honour and privilege to support them with that. Deo Juvante.
