Boarding Houses
Each House is a warm, welcoming home-from-home, supported by a dedicated team including the Housemaster or Housemistress, a full-time Resident Tutor, Matrons, and a committed House Tutor team. Together, they create a caring, sociable environment where pupils of all ages mix naturally, build strong friendships, and feel known and supported.

Our Boarding Ethos
Building confidence and character
Our boarding ethos creates an environment where pupils can grow in confidence, develop character, and explore their independence within a safe and supportive community. Each House is designed to feel like a home, with Housemasters and Housemistresses fostering strong, lasting relationships across all year groups.
Thursday evenings are a highlight of the week, with dedicated House Nights that bring pupils together for fun, friendship, and shared experiences. Activities range from baking and dodgeball to movie nights, pamper sessions, bingo, and quizzes. These evenings also offer opportunities for joint events between Houses, encouraging wider social connections, as well as Pastoral Tutor Sessions and special year-group gatherings such as Ceilidh dancing and formal dinners.
Boarding Life
House life is an important and joyful part of the King’s experience. Pupils take part in a wide range of inter-house events, from sport and music to drama, debating, and the arts, helping them discover their own talents while celebrating one another’s achievements. Weekly House Nights add to the fun and sense of belonging, with activities such as film nights, baking competitions, games, quizzes, pamper evenings, and joint social events with other Houses.
