There is an energetic and highly productive Drama programme for the whole School. Drama is open to everyone at King’s, be it on stage basking in the spotlight, or being part of the vital backstage team responsible for the smooth running of shows.
The main School Production, the Junior Play, House Plays, Sixth Form Plays and Staff Plays are regular features of the Performing Arts’ Calendar; there are opportunities aplenty to be involved and to benefit from the enriching experience of being part of a creative team, working towards a common goal. Many pupils choose to take Trinity College London tuition to supplement their training and enhance their enjoyment and success in the dramatic arts.
Scholarships
Drama Scholarships are awarded to pupils who demonstrate exceptional potential in performance or theatre production, together with a genuine passion for the dramatic arts. The assessment process is designed to showcase creativity, confidence and collaborative skills, and includes a monologue or technical presentation, a written review of a recent performance, participation in a dynamic workshop, and a meeting with the Headmaster. At King’s, Drama Scholars benefit from a wealth of opportunities to develop their talents, both on and off the stage, building their performance skills, stagecraft, confidence and creative thinking through a rich programme of productions, workshops and performances.

Dance Workshops also form an important part of the performers journey at King’s focusing on core skills, choreography and enjoyment. Pupils involvement in the Production Team for all performances at King’s is vital to their success and they are key parts of the lighting, sound, set construction, stage management and front of house teams.
Whatever your interest, whatever your skill and whatever your experience, you are welcome in the Performing Arts Department.
