An Old Brutonian is taking to the high seas in the adventure of a lifetime to raise money for mental health charities...

Former Hazlegrove Prep School (1997 - 1999) and King’s Bruton pupil, Alex Soskin (1999 - 2004), is aiming to be part of a 4 man team, hoping to win the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and break the world record whilst doing so in December. They hope to complete it in 29 days and 15 hours. The challenge is an endurance race across one of the most dangerous oceans. It is more than 3,000 miles from San Sebastian in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean. Alex will be competing against 30 other teams from around the world, battling sleep deprivation, salt sores and physical extremes including 60 foot waves. It is known as the world’s toughest row. Their ambition is to row 2 hours on, 2 hours off in rotation.

We wish him well. Good luck Alex!

Fundraising

They will be rowing the Atlantic to raise money and awareness for two charities they are very strongly affiliated to; ‘MIND’ (Mental Health) and the ‘Christina Noble Children’s Foundation’ (an international NGO, dedicated to serving the world’s oppressed and marginalized children). Their aim is to raise significant funds to be split between the charities, needed now more now than ever.

They are looking for both Corporate Partners/Sponsors to join them on their journey and donations to their chosen charities.
