Rugby vs Dauntsey's School

After 18 months without a fixture, King’s Bruton played their first “friendly” against Dauntsey’s. Although King's is a much smaller school, King’s pupils played some fantastic rugby and held themselves accountable throughout the block.

A special mention goes to the senior squad, who did not only play a superb game of rugby, but also were commended by the Director of Sport with how polite and well mannered they were after the game. Leaving the changing rooms spotless and socialising with the other team. It was great to see the rugby community back together.

This fixture has certainly given all teams a positive experience back into rugby and some work on’s for next week.

Player of the match for each team were :

  • 1st XV - Luke
  • 2nd XV - Will / Rossi
  • U15A XV - Ludo
  • U15B XV - Ollie
  • U14A XV - Levi

Football vs Wells Cathedral School

King’s Bruton 1st XI Football squad put up a brave performance in their opening match of the season against Wells Cathedral School. The match began well with a strong strike on goal from Jay. With Wells now on the attack, the King’s defence performed with admirable determination as Captain Ed repeatedly put his own body on the line to keep the ball out of the King’s 18 yard box, with goalkeeper Dylan saving those few which got past Ed and the rest of the defence. Sadly, as the match drew on, the Wells team’s experience proved to be the deciding factor, and they eventually won the game 5 – 1. Jay was deemed Man of the Match by the coaching staff, but all of the players should be really proud of their first performance which demonstrated good team work and a positive attitude throughout.
