Art Prep School Days

King’s welcomed local prep and primary schools for another exciting Arts Day. The event began on the main lawn with a warm-up activity followed by a quiz designed to test the pupils’ knowledge of the arts. The pupils were then divided into groups and began their first workshop of the day. The activities offered included ceramics, drama, dance, textiles, and silversmithing. It was wonderful to see so many young participants fully engaged and enjoying the diverse creative opportunities available at King’s. The pupils produced impressive work, from reconstructed shirts and dresses to ceramic bowls and beautiful bracelets.

After a break, the groups rotated to their second workshop. Lunchtime proved to be a highlight, with children eagerly moving through the dining room to select their meals. Following lunch, everyone gathered in the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall for an inspiring talk by local artist and photographer, Mark Pickthall. He captivated the audience with a fascinating insight into his varied work and disciplined approach to his craft. The afternoon continued with the final workshop, before culminating in a lively performance on the lawn. Many local parents joined to watch the dance routines led by Nicole Masters, King’s resident theatre manager.

The day concluded with refreshments, including cake and squash, as children and their parents departed with fond memories and creative projects to take home.
