As we draw a close to this academic year, we in turn welcome the latest Hauser & Wirth Summer exhibition titled, Myths & Machines. This latest major site-wide takeover weaves together a collaborative creative duo, Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely. This has been a huge hit towards the end of term as our 3rd Form artists have had an opportunity to engage with innovative, playful and kinetic art that has challenged their perceptions of what art can be. Whilst asking questions in response to how we represent the human form and what is our relationship with machines.
Our artists have been vocally engaged and immersed during their first encounters with Saint Phalle’s iconic figurative works celebrating femininity whilst having the chance to decipher the mechanical, often satirical works by Jean Tinguely. We look forward to preparing a series of kinetic workshops ready to kick start the academic year ahead.
