The 3rd Form travelled to Bristol, to the Wild Place Project (Bristol Zoo) to see the animals, learn about the conservation work they undertake there, and to take part in Art workshops as well as Biology Education sessions (run by the staff at the Park).
The weather was glorious and the pupils were busy throughout their time at the park. They attended interactive lectures on Adaptation and Evolution, which were both informative and entertaining. This included seeing examples of animal adaptations, using exhibits that had been brought into the country by poachers and smugglers (ranging from stuffed penguin heads to snake skins and turtles) and learning about how bats and moths have adapted as predators, and prey.
The Art sessions explored the animal shapes, forms, patterns and textures, and the children were engaged throughout. There was also time to explore the zoo and to complete a Biology worksheet, as well as seeing a huge array of animals, from lemurs to giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, bears and wolves.
It was a super day that the pupils engaged well with, and they learned a huge amount about other species.
