French Modern Foreign Languages

3rd Form French pupils went to London on Wednesday to take part in a French study day at the British Film Institute, based around cinema. We discovered three very different short films in the morning, tackling diverse topics such as difference, tolerance, memory loss, family and humour, all in French! These allowed us to do many different activities with the language, including predicting what came next and a Guess Who game. It was amazing to see pupils trying their hardest and rising to the challenge; we even had a pupil brave enough to speak out in front of the whole auditorium to offer their answer. In the afternoon, we viewed an animated film based on a beloved French schoolchild, Nicolas, and its creators, which earned the prestigious Palme d'Or in the Cannes festival. All in all, it was a very enjoyable day in London.
