A record number of our 5th and 6th Form Physics and D&T pupils took part in our annual Engineering Challenge. Small groups were tasked with designing and building a propeller powered model car from basic equipment, including: 6V motors, power cells, model propeller blades, water bottles and toy wheels. The challenge was split into two parts, with the first objective being to build a model that could actually move, mastering skills such as soldering electrical components to create a working circuit. They then needed to refine their model to cover a 6m test track in the shortest time possible. Despite having been provided with identical equipment, the finished designs were varied and innovative and all the pupils involved should be congratulated for their team work, resilience and imagination.
The winning teams were as follows:
Well done to all involved!
