Design and Technology

On 22nd January, our Sixth Form Design & Technology pupils enjoyed an inspiring visit to Longpre’s bespoke furniture manufacturing and design facility in Bruton, where they gained valuable insight into the real-world application of their classroom learning.

During the visit, students observed the full design and production process at work, from initial briefs and creative concept development through to commercial manufacturing with numerous examples of production excellence and personalised batch production techniques. The Longpre team welcomed our pupils to see first-hand how theoretical studies in materials, design thinking and problem-solving connect with the precision and creativity of a professional workshop environment.

This experience not only reinforced classroom theory but also broadened pupils’ understanding of manufacturing techniques and potential career pathways within the design and manufacturing sectors. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring academic study to life and witness creativity and practical skills in action.

Our thanks go to Longpre for hosting the visit and supporting our pupils’ learning.
