Lower Sixth pupils recently took part in an educational visit to Numatic International, the renowned British manufacturer best known for producing the iconic Henry Hoover.
The visit began with a fascinating talk from Numatic’s Director of Operations, who shared valuable insight into large-scale manufacturing, operational management, and the importance of innovation within a modern production environment. Pupils then toured the factory floor, where they were able to observe a wide range of polymer production processes in action including injection and rotational moulding and laser cutting all of which are linked to our Product Design course..
Highlights of the visit included witnessing the installation of a new injection moulding machine and seeing a variety of advanced robotic and automated production techniques being used across the facility. These experiences gave pupils a real understanding of how theoretical studies in materials, polymers and manufacturing processes are applied within a high-volume commercial setting.
The trip provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of modern manufacturing and engineering, while also offering valuable insight into potential future career pathways within the industry.
Our thanks go to Numatic International for their warm welcome and for providing such an engaging and informative experience for our pupils.
