U6th Form pupils learnt new skills in an Interview Scheme

Sixth Form Careers

The U6th Form Interview Scheme is one of the most important experiences for the U6th pupils. For most, it is their first encounter with a stranger-led interview, being asked probing questions about their aspirations, strengths, weaknesses and experience. Pupils are challenged to talk about themselves and “sell” their characteristics and skills to a potential employer, capping a series of workshops and tasks for the U6th Form, where they have looked at how they brand and sell themselves through CVs, LinkedIn, letters and interviews.

In the days of AI-enhanced applications, the in-person interview holds even greater weight for many recruitment processes. It’s a chance to see the genuine personality and identify the right fit employee for a position, and, in an increasingly competitive internship and graduate recruitment market, early experience can really help to set individuals apart from the crowd.

To the parent and OB volunteers who made this possible, we are hugely grateful. Universally, pupils have expressed their gratitude for the time given by the experienced interviewers, who not only “grilled” the pupils, but also offered extensive individual feedback, which the pupils have been reflecting on throughout the week.
