Inter-House Debating - Round 2 - The Motion:

'This house believes in a two-state solution to bring peace to the Middle East'

The second round of Inter-House debates continued this week with Dan Cupit, Deputy Head, Academic sharing a summary of the contest between Blackford House and New House.

The debate between Blackford House and New House on the motion “This house believes in a two-state solution to bring peace to the Middle East” proved to be an engaging and thought-provoking contest. Both teams demonstrated an impressive level of research, clearly having delved deeply into the historical, political, and humanitarian aspects of the issue. In front of a large audience of pupils, the debaters spoke with confidence and clarity, presenting complex arguments in a way that was both accessible and compelling.

Particularly impressive were Gabriel of Blackford House and Aadi of New House, who both delivered their speeches with excellent pace and tone, using emphasis effectively to drive home their key points. The debate was closely contested, but in the end, Blackford House emerged as the winners, thanks to the articulate way they presented their case and the skill with which they challenged New House’s arguments. Overall, it was a strong display of debating talent from both sides, and the passion and promise shown by all speakers suggest a bright future for debating within the school. I look forward to seeing both teams develop in the next round. Well done to all involved!
