Week of 3rd Form Examinations
New House Clinch Thrilling Inter-House Football Cup.
Farr Field came alive as the Senior Boys’ Houses competed for the top spot in the Inter-House Football Tournament. The event was well-attended, showcasing the impressive standard of football developing across the school.
Match 1: New House vs. Blackford (1-1)
The opening fixture set the pace, played out from end-to-end. New House quickly settled into their free flowing, attacking style, rewarded by a clinical strike from Johann N inside the box. However, Blackford reacted instantly. Their captain, Harry G, led the charge, driving forward with a direct run before unleashing a powerful shot to secure a well-deserved equaliser.
Match 2: Blackford vs. Lyon (0-0)
The momentum slowed in the second match, which devolved into a hard-fought stalemate. While Blackford’s dynamic front line, led by Gustav V who carved out some excellent moves, searched desperately for an opening, Lyon House focused on maintaining a tight, disciplined backline. Despite both teams’ efforts, neither could find the advantage, resulting in a tense goalless draw.
Match 3: New House vs. Lyon (1-0)
The final match provided a nail-biting conclusion as the fading light added to the drama. Lyon House piled on the pressure; Iolo R thought he had broken the deadlock, only for his close-range, thundering finish to be disallowed for an offside move. Undeterred, Aurthur H and George S continued to drive the Lyon side forward. However, the defining moment came late in the game. In the final minute, a penalty was awarded to New House following a foul in the box. Stepping up to the spot, the standout player of the tournament, Yuichiro M, converted the spot-kick with a fine, decisive finish.
Tournament Champions: New House
New House were the thoroughly deserved tournament winners. Their success was built upon a combination of passion, flair, and creative decisiveness in the final third, proving the narrowest of margins victory to claim the Inter-house title.
