Tuesday saw the 1st XI host Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in the annual showcase fixture of the term. The MCC called correctly at the toss and elected to bat first. Early pressure from Oliver G and Nathan T restricted the MCC early. Oliver, the pick of the King’s Bruton attack as he picked up two wickets for 48 runs off his 14 overs. The MCC reached 269 for 5 before they opted to declare just before tea.

King's knew they would need to apply themselves properly and use all available overs to reach a very competitive total. Bruce W looked to take the attack to the MCC bowlers before he fell for a very well worked 80 (his third half century in as many games!). He was joined at the crease by captain Ronnie F who played a very mature innings to score an unbeaten 118 not out, alongside Oliver G (44 not out). King's reached 273 for the loss of just 5 wickets to win with 10 overs to spare. Ronnie F also picked up the Spirit of Cricket Award for his contribution.

King’s recorded their second consecutive victory against the MCC. A huge thank you to the MCC, Grounds Team and Catering for making our showcase fixture such a success.
