Following a rain impacted week, with block fixtures cancelled against Sherborne School and King's College Taunton last week, it was great to see all teams in action again post half-term.
On Thursday, the Boys' U17s secured an excellent victory in a close contest against Millfield U17s. Batting first, King's posted 129 for 7, with Oliver G anchoring the innings with a well-made 41. In a tense finish, Millfield required 9 runs from the final over, but Nathan T bowled with great maturity under pressure to secure a thrilling one-run win.
Saturday saw a full schedule of fixtures against Bryanston School and visiting Highgate School. The 1st XI maintained their perfect domestic record with a convincing five-wicket win. On debut, Figgy P-H impressed with two wickets in three overs, supported by tidy spells from Ronnie F and Bruce W. The pair then led the run chase with scores of 26 and 39 respectively, guiding King's home with overs to spare.
The 2nd XI delivered a dominant performance at Bryanston, winning by 95 runs. Harry M was named Player of the Match for a composed innings of 44 that set up the victory. The U15As also impressed, posting 137 before restricting Bryanston to 129, with Oliver A producing excellent figures of 3 for 9 to claim Player of the Match.
The U15Bs faced a strong Bryanston U14A side and, despite a valiant effort, were narrowly defeated in the final overs. Oliver H earned Player of the Match for an excellent spell of bowling that kept King's in contention. Meanwhile, the U14As hosted touring Highgate School, with both sides producing an enjoyable and competitive encounter. King's ran out winners by 107 runs. Posting 188 for 4, King's restricted the opposition to 81 all out. Player of the Match was awarded to Oliver W for his 41 not out and 2 wickets for just 5 runs.
The Girls' 1st XI continued their strong run with a comprehensive six-wicket win over Bryanston. King’s bowled out their opponents for 75 before Geneva N led the chase with a composed 24 to secure the win in the 18th over. The Girls' 2nd XI also recorded a fine victory, winning by 32 runs, with Isabelle M named Player of the Match for an outstanding display in the field.
Attention now turns to the upcoming Festival of Cricket Week, with a full programme of fixtures against Monkton Combe School, Old Brutonians, Wiltshire Queries Cricket Club, XL Club, and ACE Academy.
