Thursday marked a historic occasion for Girls' Cricket at King's Bruton as the 1st XI hosted the MCC on the Hyde 1st XI square.

After winning the toss, the MCC elected to bat first. Despite a disciplined opening bowling partnership from Ella and Lily, the MCC openers made a strong start, reaching 78 without loss. The breakthrough eventually came from Ava, who claimed a wicket thanks to an excellent catch by Lucy. The MCC went on to post 156–5 from their 20 overs.

In reply, King's openers Daisie and Lucy got the chase off to a flying start. Lucy contributed an impressive 36 before being dismissed, while Daisie soon reached a well-deserved half-century. She continued to build a strong partnership with Lily as King's battled hard throughout their innings, finishing on 139–3 from their 20 overs.

Daisie (3rd, Priory) was named Player of the Match for her commanding innings of 67 runs.

The fixture provided a fitting conclusion to a highly successful season, and King's looks forward to welcoming the MCC back again next year.
