CCF Activities

Chief Petty Officer Lowther returned to King’s to deliver another brilliantly intense MCC session, this time giving our cadets bespoke training in attack formation, weapons handling and Rules of Engagement for close-contact scenarios. Split into three teams, the cadets worked through a rotational exercise where one group conducted compartment clearances through the Maths classrooms, while the other teams operated remotely, using VHF radios to track and log every moment of the action. Their records included contact reports, breaches, hostage situations and team movements, all of which added a new layer of coordination and professionalism to the exercise. The NCOs, naturally, threw themselves into the role-playing with great enthusiasm, adding plenty of realism (and drama) to each scenario.

CPO Lowther’s debrief was as sharp as ever. Having secretly hidden various pieces of “enemy intelligence” around the rooms, he challenged the cadets on what they had found - and, more importantly, what they had missed. It was a brilliant task that tested communication, situational awareness and attention to detail under pressure. The whole afternoon was a superb blend of focus, chaos, laughter and teamwork, with the cadets rising to the challenge and showing just how far their skills have developed.
